The newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has swiftly acted to cut federal spending, terminating 85 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) contracts worth around $1 billion within the first 10 days. The contracts, spanning 24 agencies like Education, Labor, Defense, and Homeland Security, were scrapped as part of President Trump’s Executive Order on Government Efficiency. This initiative aims to eliminate wasteful programs and prioritize government performance over political activism. The Office of Personnel Management saw nearly $500 million in cuts, and other notable reductions included the Departments of Agriculture, Treasury, and Homeland Security. DOGE, led by Elon Musk, will continue identifying and eliminating wasteful contracts over the next 18 months.
