Senator Adam Schiff Faces Allegations from Democrat Whistleblower<\/strong><\/p>\n

Newly declassified FBI interview reports have surfaced alongside allegations from a Democratic whistleblower, potentially jeopardizing Senator Adam Schiff\u2019s (D-CA) political future. The whistleblower, a long-time staffer on the House Intelligence Committee, claims that during Schiff\u2019s tenure as ranking member and later chairman amid the Trump-Russia investigation, he orchestrated leaks of classified intelligence to damage then-President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

According to the whistleblower, Schiff told staff in a 2017 meeting that they would leak damaging classified material about Trump to the media in hopes of building a case against him. The whistleblower says he immediately objected, calling the plan unethical and possibly treasonous, but was assured the leaks would remain undetected. He also alleged that Schiff hoped to be appointed CIA Director under a Hillary Clinton presidency and that Rep. Eric Swalwell was identified as a likely channel for the leaks. After reporting his concerns to the FBI, the whistleblower says he was fired.<\/p>\n

Despite informing the FBI \u2014 most recently in 2023 \u2014 no formal action has been taken against Schiff. Former U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman has noted that if prosecuted, Schiff could face up to $250,000 in fines per leak and up to 20 years in prison, depending on the legal statutes and intent behind the leaks. Tolman added the possibility that the conduct could be part of a larger conspiracy to undermine a sitting president.<\/p>\n

Critics argue that FBI Director Christopher Wray has consistently protected high-profile political figures, citing this case and others, including the January 6 probe, as evidence of political bias within the agency.
