I had three crumpled dollars in my pocket and three sleeping children in the back of a rusted van when I met the man who would change our lives.<\/p>\n

Two years earlier, everything had fallen apart\u2014job lost, bills piling up, and my wife gone. Lily tried to hold back tears, Jace puffed his chest like a little soldier, and Noah called the van our \u201cbus house,\u201d believing we were on an endless camping trip.<\/p>\n
