NFL Mourns the Loss of Jets Legend Nick Mangold<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NFL is mourning the sudden passing of New York Jets legend Nick Mangold, who died on October 26 at just 41, only two weeks after revealing his battle with chronic kidney disease. His death has left both the Jets and Ohio State Buckeyes communities heartbroken.<\/p>\n

Mangold, one of the most respected centers in the league, anchored the Jets\u2019 offensive line for over a decade. Known for his strength, leadership, and loyalty, he became a cornerstone of the team\u2019s identity during his 11-year career.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Mangold shared a deeply personal message about his health struggles. \u201cIn 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic defect that has led to chronic kidney disease,\u201d he wrote. \u201cAfter a rough summer, I\u2019m undergoing dialysis as we look for a kidney transplant. I always knew this day would come, but I thought I would have had more time.\u201d<\/p>\n

With no family members eligible as donors, Mangold reached out to his broader football family, expressing hope and gratitude for the community that had always supported him. \u201cI\u2019m thankful for my family, who have been my rock. This has reminded me how lucky I am to have such amazing people behind me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Tributes poured in from across the football world. Jets owner Woody Johnson called Mangold \u201ca leader, a warrior, and a friend whose impact went far beyond the field.\u201d Born in Ohio, Mangold rose from a high school standout to an Ohio State Buckeyes star before being drafted by the Jets in 2006.<\/p>\n
