But according to a new poll, Americans already have opinions on who they\u2019d choose if the two ever went head-to-head on a 2028 ballot.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"429\" data-end=\"694\">Of course, such a matchup is impossible under the Constitution\u2019s 22nd Amendment, which limits presidents to two terms. Still, that hasn\u2019t stopped speculation, especially with Trump occasionally hinting at a third run and Obama remaining characteristically silent.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"696\" data-end=\"1017\">Back in April, Trump was asked how he\u2019d feel about running against Obama in 2028. His response: \u201cI\u2019d love that. That would be a good one.\u201d Pressed further, he added, \u201cSome people are asking me to run\u2026 They say there\u2019s a way you can do it, but I don\u2019t know about that. We have four years\u2014it\u2019s still close to four years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1019\" data-end=\"1397\">While purely hypothetical, a new <strong data-start=\"1052\" data-end=\"1080\">Daily Mail\/J.L. Partners<\/strong> poll asked 1,013 registered voters how they would vote in a Trump\u2013Obama showdown. The results: <strong data-start=\"1176\" data-end=\"1193\">52% for Obama<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1198\" data-end=\"1215\">41% for Trump<\/strong>. Among Hispanic voters, 73% favored Obama; 68% of Black voters did too. Obama was the only Democrat in the survey to beat Trump\u2014Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris both trailed him.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1399\" data-end=\"1741\">Realistically, a Trump\u2013Obama race could never happen without rewriting the Constitution, a process requiring two-thirds of Congress and 38 state legislatures. But the poll underscores the enduring influence of both men, who have defined American politics for nearly two decades.
