She also had a long-term smoking habit of around 10 cigarettes per day.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"341\" data-end=\"682\">When her respiratory symptoms worsened, her pulmonologist <strong data-start=\"399\" data-end=\"474\">switched her inhaler to a combination of indacaterol and glycopyrronium<\/strong>\u2014a long-acting bronchodilator and anticholinergic. However, <strong data-start=\"534\" data-end=\"582\">just two days after starting the new inhaler<\/strong>, she developed <strong data-start=\"598\" data-end=\"622\">painful, red patches<\/strong> on her <strong data-start=\"630\" data-end=\"647\">face and neck<\/strong>, along with a <strong data-start=\"662\" data-end=\"681\">low-grade fever<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"684\" data-end=\"970\">She denied using new skin products, eating new foods, or experiencing any recent illnesses. Meanwhile, she was started on <strong data-start=\"1232\" data-end=\"1256\">oral corticosteroids<\/strong> to control the inflammation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1287\" data-end=\"1491\">Within <strong data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1312\">24 to 48 hours<\/strong>, she reported <strong data-start=\"1327\" data-end=\"1349\">significant relief<\/strong> from pain and a <strong data-start=\"1366\" data-end=\"1390\">reduction in redness<\/strong>, supporting the diagnosis of an acute inflammatory reaction, likely triggered by the new medication.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1809\">This case highlights the importance of monitoring for <strong data-start=\"1547\" data-end=\"1578\">cutaneous adverse reactions<\/strong> when initiating new inhalers, particularly in patients with multiple comorbidities.
