Experts quickly identified it as a dead moray eel, a common but often misunderstood inhabitant of Southern California waters. Moray eels can be aggressive if threatened, equipped with rows of sharp teeth, so it\u2019s best to keep a safe distance. The eerie appearance was due to the eel\u2019s bloated state after death, making it look much scarier than usual. Reddit users had a field day with the sighting, joking about the eel\u2019s famously scary jaws: \u201cWhen the jaws open wide and there\u2019s more jaws inside \u2014 that\u2019s a moray.\u201d Despite the spooky look, this creature is a familiar part of the local marine life.<\/p>\n
