After Donald Trump lost the presidential election to Joe Biden, Jill Biden invited Melania Trump to the traditional tea between outgoing and incoming First Ladies. However, Melania reportedly declined, breaking the long-standing custom. Jill later reached out through a note during a meeting at the reopening of Notre Dame, offering congratulations and help.
The two First Ladies eventually met at former President Jimmy Carter’s state funeral in January, with Jill confirming that Melania thanked her during pleasantries.
In December 2024, Melania appeared on “Fox & Friends,” commenting that the transition to the White House would be smoother the second time around. She also dismissed questions about posing for magazine covers, saying that there were more important things to do than appear on covers. This remark was interpreted by some as a subtle dig at Jill Biden, who had appeared on Vogue’s cover in August.
