Mother Warns Parents After Daughter Suffers Shocking Injury from Cellphone
For most parents, protecting their children becomes instinctive from the moment they’re born. The thought of illness or injury is terrifying—something we try hard to prevent. But sometimes, despite our best efforts, accidents happen.
Jackie Fedro experienced every parent’s nightmare in 2016 when her 13-year-old daughter Gabbie was severely injured by something completely unexpected: her cellphone. Gabbie had just received an LG D500 as a Christmas gift so she could stay in touch amidst a busy schedule.
One day, while using the phone plugged into its charger, Gabbie screamed and ran downstairs in agony. The charging cable had transferred an electric shock through her phone, which traveled into her metal necklace and severely burned her neck.
“She suffered painful second-degree burns and will now have a scar,” Jackie told BuzzFeed. “It’s the worst feeling in the world to watch your child suffer and not know how to help.”
Now, Jackie urges parents to be aware of hidden dangers in everyday devices many kids use.
