Rosie Roche, 20, Found Dead at Family Home
Rosie Roche, the granddaughter of Princess Diana’s uncle and cousin to Prince William and Prince Harry, was tragically found dead at her family’s home in Norton, Wiltshire, on July 14. Her mother, Pippa, and sister, Agatha, discovered her body in the home office. A firearm was found beside her.
Coroner Grant Davies confirmed Rosie died from a gunshot wound to the head, adding that police found no third-party involvement and deemed the death non-suspicious. “Rosie was packing for a trip with friends,” Davies said during the inquest. Her death was confirmed by ambulance staff at 1:22 p.m. A post-mortem was conducted, with toxicology results pending.
Rosie was a first-year English Literature student at Durham University. Her family paid tribute, describing her as a “darling daughter” and “incredible sister.” Professor Wendy Powers, Principal at University College, Durham, remembered Rosie for her creativity, love of books, and vibrant spirit.
Support is being offered to students and staff affected by the loss.
The inquest will resume on October 25.
