Mayor Of Newark Arrested After Dems Storm ICE Facility In New Jersey

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka Arrested at ICE Facility After Clash with Federal Agents

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested Friday at the Delaney Hall ICE detention center after a confrontation with Homeland Security agents during a congressional visit.

Federal officials say Baraka ignored multiple warnings to leave the premises and was taken into custody for trespassing. He was released a few hours later and claimed he “did nothing wrong.”

The incident, caught on video, sparked protests and drew backlash from leaders like Sen. Cory Booker and Gov. Phil Murphy, who called the arrest unjust. Republicans criticized the move as political theater.
