Whoopi Walks Off ‘The View’ Set During Clash Over Miranda Lambert

Whoopi Goldberg Walks Off ‘The View’ Amid Heated Debate Over Miranda Lambert’s Concert Selfie Controversy

On The View, a discussion about Miranda Lambert’s public criticism of fans taking selfies during her concert turned tense. Lambert had stopped her show to call out front-row fans for focusing on selfies instead of the music, saying, “These girls are worried about their selfies and not listening to the song. It’s pissing me off a little bit.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin defended the fans, pointing out that VIP tickets in that section cost $757, so she’d take as many selfies as she wanted to capture the experience. Whoopi Goldberg disagreed sharply, insisting that if someone paid that much, they should give the performer respect by fully watching the show.

The disagreement escalated until Goldberg stood up and left the set, saying, “Turn on the television, girl,” and “I’m leaving y’all.” While the moment sparked laughter, it underscored her frustration with the debate.

One of the fans Lambert called out, Adela Calin, later said she felt “appalled” by Lambert’s remarks, comparing it to a schoolteacher scolding adults and insisting they sit down and behave. Calin and her friends, ranging in age from their 30s to 60s, were simply trying to get a good group photo but struggled with lighting.

Lambert’s representative declined further comment on the incident.
