FBI Director Kash Patel recently accused former FBI Director James Comey of concealing investigations into Hillary Clinton’s email practices during the 2016 election. Patel claimed that Comey, inappropriately, decided independently not to pursue charges against Clinton, thereby overstepping the Department of Justice’s authority.
He also alleged that Comey intentionally omitted or distorted information during his tenure.
Patel’s remarks were made alongside Deputy Director Dan Bongino in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo. Bongino added that during their tenure, they discovered documents from Comey’s era that had been improperly stored and not processed through standard procedures. He suggested that these findings would be declassified soon, potentially revealing significant misconduct .
In response to Comey’s cryptic Instagram post, which some interpreted as a veiled threat against President Trump, Patel criticized Comey for encouraging dangerous behavior. Comey later clarified that he did not intend any violent message and was unaware of the numbers’ associations .
These developments come amid Patel and Bongino’s efforts to reform the FBI. While they face internal skepticism, they are focused on increasing transparency and accountability within the bureau .
