DHS Notifies 530,000 Migrants They Must Leave U.S.: Report

The Trump administration has begun terminating a Biden-era immigration parole program that allowed about 530,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, and Nicaragua to stay in the U.S. temporarily with work permits if they had sponsors. This program, criticized by Trump officials as poorly vetted and a threat to national security, was ended following a Supreme Court ruling in favor of President Trump’s request to stop it.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has started sending termination notices to these migrants, revoking their parole status and work authorizations immediately. The DHS says the program was an abuse of executive power that enabled mass migration without proper oversight, undercut American workers, and caused chaos blamed on Republicans.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin called the move a necessary return to “common-sense policies” and “America First” principles. Migrants are encouraged to self-deport using a DHS app, which offers travel assistance and a $1,000 exit bonus upon return to their home countries.

This marks a major rollback of Biden’s immigration policies, reinforcing Trump’s focus on border security and immigration enforcement.
