Meanwhile, Trump deployed National Guard troops and Marines to Los Angeles, claiming it was necessary to restore order amid violent protests. California Gov. Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass criticized the federal intervention, arguing local authorities could manage the situation.
