Vance To Visit Los Angeles On Friday Amid Tension Over ICE Raids

Vice President JD Vance is visiting Los Angeles Friday amid heightened tensions over the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. His trip includes touring a federal operations center and addressing Marines, following protests and riots against ICE raids in the city. Military presence remains after President Trump deployed troops in response. California Governor Gavin Newsom’s lawsuit to retain control over the state’s National Guard was blocked by a federal court.

Controversy erupted when the Los Angeles Dodgers claimed ICE tried to access stadium grounds—an assertion ICE and CBP denied. Protesters had mistaken CBP vehicles for ICE agents.

An investigation is underway into the organizers behind anti-ICE demonstrations. Crowds on Demand, a protest-staging firm, said it declined offers to participate, citing concerns over illegal activity. GOP lawmakers, including Sen. Josh Hawley and Rep. Kevin Kiley, are probing groups like CHIRLA, which has received substantial government grants and allegedly supported efforts to abolish ICE. No evidence currently links CHIRLA or others directly to violent activity.
