Attorney General Pam Bondi celebrated two major U.S. Supreme Court victories for President Trump on Friday. In a 6–3 decision, the Court ended the use of nationwide injunctions by district courts, limiting their scope to only the plaintiffs involved. Bondi praised the ruling as a defense of presidential authority and credited the Department of Justice and Solicitor General John Sauer.
The decision is a major setback for legal efforts that have blocked Trump’s executive orders, including his controversial move to end birthright citizenship. While the Court has not ruled on the policy’s constitutionality, it allowed the executive order to take effect in regions not under active injunction. Trump’s order reinterprets the 14th Amendment to deny automatic citizenship to children born in the U.S. to illegal immigrants or temporary visa holders, challenging over a century of precedent. Supporters argue the amendment was meant for former slaves, not undocumented migrants, while critics say such a policy requires a constitutional amendment.
