Though Pelosi has denied owning stocks or having involvement in trades, the controversy has fueled Republican efforts to ban congressional stock trading. Sen. Josh Hawley and Rep. Mark Alford introduced the PELOSI Act and a House companion bill, respectively, aiming to prevent lawmakers from profiting off non-public information. Despite pressure, Pelosi has offered lukewarm responses to supporting such a ban, prompting continued calls for ethics reforms in Congress.
