Senate Votes Unanimously To Pass ‘No Tax On Tips’ Act

In a rare unanimous 100–0 vote, the U.S. Senate passed legislation to eliminate federal taxes on tips, fulfilling a key campaign promise by President Donald Trump. The bill, introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in January, received bipartisan support, including backing from Nevada Democratic Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto. Rosen, who called the vote, noted the bill’s significance for Nevada, which has the highest number of tipped workers per capita.

The bill now heads to the House, where it enjoys broad bipartisan support and is expected to pass, likely reaching the president’s desk soon. Cruz praised the unity behind the bill, calling it “commonsense policy,” while Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) emphasized the need for tax relief for working Americans, not the ultra-rich. Trump first announced the no-tax-on-tips policy at a Nevada rally, promising to prioritize it in office. The measure has gained rare cross-party momentum, marking a notable win for service industry workers.
