Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB), warning that it dramatically expands immigration enforcement. The bill allocates $170 billion to immigration measures, including $45 billion for detention facilities, $30 billion for ICE, and nearly $50 billion for Trump’s border wall. Ocasio-Cortez, posting on Bluesky, called the bill an unprecedented expansion of ICE, warning it could lead to serious civil rights concerns.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller praised the bill as the most comprehensive immigration package ever, enabling the mass deportation of “millions of invaders.” Trump, who signed the bill into law, celebrated it as key to his “REMIGRATION” strategy, pledging to give ICE the tools to carry out the largest deportation operation in U.S. history.
Meanwhile, former ICE Director Tom Homan revealed he is living apart from his wife due to death threats related to his immigration enforcement role. Homan said Trump personally asked him to return to his post after defeating Kamala Harris in the last presidential election.
