FBI Director Kash Patel Announces Major Arrests, Proposes UFC Partnership
FBI Director Kash Patel announced a major narcotics seizure off the coast of Italy, led by the FBI’s San Juan and Miami divisions in cooperation with CBP and the DOJ. Over 2,000 kilograms of cocaine linked to a transnational terrorist group were confiscated, a victory Patel credited to interagency coordination.
This follows the FBI’s Virginia Homeland Security Taskforce arresting 39 gang members, including MS-13 affiliates, as part of efforts to enhance border and community safety.
In a separate operation, FBI and ICE agents arrested high-ranking MS-13 leader David Alejandro Orellana-Aleman in Maryland. An illegal immigrant from El Salvador, Orellana faces charges of extortion, firearms violations, and terrorism. Authorities say his arrest disrupts MS-13 operations across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe.
Patel also made headlines by proposing a partnership with the UFC to improve FBI agents’ physical conditioning. The idea, floated during his first call with all 55 field offices, received mixed reactions but was praised by some for promoting agent fitness and readiness.
