23 Girls Missing After Texas Floods Devastate Summer Camp
New details have emerged in the aftermath of catastrophic flooding in central Texas, where 23 girls remain missing following a July 4 disaster that struck Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp for girls located near the Guadalupe River. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick confirmed the figures during a press conference, noting the camp had about 750 attendees when the floods hit.
Family members of the missing girls are actively searching and have spoken with local media in hopes of locating their loved ones. The Guadalupe River rose to its second-highest level ever recorded, contributing to widespread devastation in Kerr and Kendall Counties.
According to CNN, at least 25 people have died due to the flooding—24 in Kerr County and one in Kendall County. Emergency response teams continue search and rescue operations in the region, where entire communities have been overwhelmed by fast-moving floodwaters.
State officials have not yet confirmed whether the missing girls were swept away or are sheltering in place. The situation remains fluid.
