Fox News Anchor’s Son Undergoes Fifth Open-Heart Surgery to Remove Life-Threatening Aneurysm
Paul Baier, 16-year-old son of Fox News anchor Bret Baier, underwent his fifth open-heart surgery in 2024 after doctors found a dangerous, golf ball-sized aneurysm near his heart. What started as a routine cold became serious when Paul’s mother, Amy, insisted on further testing due to his history of congenital heart defects. Imaging tests revealed the aneurysm, which posed a risk of rupture at any moment.
Facing an emergency 10-hour surgery, Paul showed remarkable courage, saying, “Let’s do what we have to do.” The night before, he shared a memorable golfing moment with his father. The operation was successful, and Paul began a six-week recovery focusing on rest, healthy eating, and walking.
Born with five congenital heart defects, Paul has had more than a dozen surgeries. His family’s message of gratitude and resilience has inspired many. As of mid-2025, no new updates have been shared, but Paul is expected to recover fully.
