On June 14, 2025, tragedy struck in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, when 12-year-old Abigail “Abby” Gillon and her best friend were critically injured in an electric scooter accident. The girls fell from the scooter and were hit by a vehicle on Lehr Boulevard in Aston Township. Abby passed away two days later from severe traumatic brain injuries, while her friend Bella Jones remains in recovery with serious injuries.
Abby’s mother, Lori Kralle, called her daughter her “best friend” and only child. Family and friends have launched a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses and created an online memorial celebrating Abby’s bright spirit and love of cheerleading and swimming.
In response, the family is advocating for “Abby’s Law,” proposing stricter e-scooter regulations in Pennsylvania, including speed limits, helmet requirements, and age restrictions. The bill has gained strong community support despite some opposition.
Meanwhile, Bella’s family has started a fundraiser to help with medical costs. Together, their stories have ignited important conversations about scooter safety and protecting children.
