The start of summer turned tragic for one Florida family when 11-year-old Jordan Roe lost her life in a tubing accident at Star Lake on June 24, 2025. Known as “the protector” of her family, Jordan lived up to that name in her final moments.
Jordan had been tubing with her cousins, 8-year-old Laila and 9-year-old Brylee, after a joyful day of swimming and a family barbecue. But the fun turned to horror when the jet ski towing them lost control and slammed into a dock, throwing the children into the lake.
At first, officials misidentified the victim as Laila. It was later confirmed that Jordan had died, Laila was critically injured, and Brylee escaped with minor injuries. Family members say Jordan shielded her cousins, sacrificing herself in a split-second act of heroism.
Laila’s mother, Kristine Robinson, was in Tampa with a newborn when she received the devastating call. She now urges parents: “Hold your babies tight… accidents happen in a blink.”
Jordan, who dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, had long wanted to be an organ donor. Even in death, she saved lives.
Two GoFundMe campaigns support the family. As one neighbor said, “You don’t expect this kind of heartbreak here.” Jordan’s memory lives on in love and legacy.
