The difference between the spirit of a loved one and other forces

Sensing the Spirit of a Loved One After Loss

Losing someone we love is deeply painful, and grief can last a long time. Yet, in the midst of that sorrow, many people report feeling their loved one’s spirit nearby—through a voice, a dream, a scent, or simply a powerful sense of presence.

These moments, often called after-death communication, can bring peace and comfort. They are more common than many realize and may be part of how we stay connected to those we’ve lost.

A loving spirit usually brings warmth, calm, or reassurance. If the feeling is heavy or unsettling, it may not be your loved one. Personal signs—like a favorite song, a moving object, or a familiar scent—tend to carry emotional meaning. In contrast, random or disruptive disturbances often point to other energies.

Loved ones may reach out on meaningful dates, such as birthdays or anniversaries. If the timing feels off or the presence creates fear, it’s okay to protect your space with prayer, light, or cleansing rituals.

Above all, trust your intuition. If the energy feels loving and familiar, it’s likely your loved one letting you know they’re near. If not, prioritize your peace and protection. Your inner knowing is your best guide.
