Rep. Jasmine Crockett Defends Trump-Hitler Comparison Amid Fallout from Charlie Kirk Assassination
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is drawing sharp criticism after defending her comparison of former President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler during a recent interview on The Breakfast Club. The comments came just days after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University—an act allegedly committed by a leftist gunman, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.
Crockett argued that Trump’s rhetoric has contributed to a climate of political violence, pointing to his past remarks about shooting someone on Fifth Avenue and encouraging aggression at rallies. She insisted her Hitler comparison was rhetorical, not a call to violence.
The controversy underscores growing concerns about escalating political discourse in the U.S. Critics, particularly on the right, argue that Democrats have routinely framed Trump and his supporters as existential threats to democracy—language they say contributes to real-world violence. Past comments by President Biden, including his joke about fighting Trump “behind a gym,” have also been cited as examples of inflammatory rhetoric.
Robinson, Kirk’s suspected killer, is believed to have held increasingly radical left-wing views. A former friend described him as politically isolated and noted a growing detachment from his conservative family.
Former President Trump confirmed Robinson’s arrest during an interview on Fox & Friends, calling the assassination “an act of political terror.” The FBI continues to investigate Robinson’s motives and background.
The incident has reignited debate over whether divisive language from political leaders is fueling extremism on both ends of the spectrum.
