Haunting final post from US figure skating team member inside American Airlines plane moments before it crashed

An American Airlines plane collided with a Black Hawk helicopter over Washington, D.C., on January 29, crashing into the Potomac River. Flight 5342 was approaching Reagan National Airport when the accident occurred, leaving over 60 feared dead.

Authorities have recovered 28 bodies, including U.S. figure skater Spencer Lane, and have shifted to a recovery operation with no expected survivors. Investigators are analyzing black boxes to determine the cause.

American Airlines called it a “difficult day,” while President Trump criticized the crash as preventable. The investigation is ongoing.
