A Wisconsin judge has vowed to halt court proceedings in protest of a colleague’s recent arrest.
Judge Monica Isham sent an email to fellow judges declaring she would refuse to hold court in Sawyer County unless given guidance and support following the arrest of Judge Hannah Dugan.
Dugan faces federal charges for allegedly helping a Mexican national evade ICE agents after a court hearing. Isham stated she would not allow anyone to be removed from her courtroom without due process and equated ICE detention to being sent to a “concentration camp.”
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon called Isham’s stance “problematic.” Dugan is accused of obstruction and concealing an individual from arrest.
Former ICE official Tom Homan defended the arrests, warning judges not to interfere with federal immigration enforcement.
