Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have welcomed their second child, a daughter named Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on January 22 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. Athena arrived prematurely, weighing 4lb 5oz. Buckingham Palace announced the news, noting that both Beatrice and the baby are doing well. The royal family, including The King and Queen, are said to be delighted by the arrival.
Athena joins siblings three-year-old Sienna and Beatrice’s eight-year-old stepson Wolfie. Beatrice and Edoardo shared a photo of their newborn daughter, wrapped in a pink blanket. Beatrice had been expecting her second child in the spring but had received medical advice in December not to travel long distances.
Beatrice announced her pregnancy in October, with photos showing Sienna and Wolfie alongside a smiling Beatrice. The new baby is 11th in line to the throne, pushing her aunt Princess Eugenie to 12th. Athena is also the 14th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the second to be born since her passing in 2022. Beatrice and Edoardo expressed their gratitude to the hospital team for their care.
