CBS News CEO Abruptly Resigns Amid Ongoing Network Clashes Over Trump

Wendy McMahon, CEO and president of CBS News, resigned abruptly Monday, citing a disagreement with the company’s direction.

In a memo to staff, she noted recent challenges and called for new leadership.

Her exit follows internal turmoil amid Shari Redstone’s attempts to sell CBS’s parent company, Paramount. McMahon clashed with executives over editorial independence, especially after supporting “60 Minutes” producer Bill Owens, who resigned over alleged interference.

The controversy grew after a Trump lawsuit over a Kamala Harris interview, claiming deceptive editing. The FCC received a related complaint, but political timing may delay action, further eroding public trust in CBS News.
