NewsNation host Chris Cuomo criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, claiming her push to impeach Trump over his Iran strike is damaging the Democratic Party. Cuomo argued that AOC consistently backs fringe, unpopular positions—like defunding the police or aligning with socialist figures—and is leading Democrats down a self-destructive path. Comparing her unfavorably to his father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, he accused her of prioritizing social media clout over real leadership, saying, “You’re killing your party.”
Cuomo called on Democrats to reject extremism and support majority-backed policies, warning that AOC and her allies are more interested in ideology than electability. He added that Democrats are repeating the same “fringe trap” they criticize MAGA for.
Sen. John Fetterman also dismissed AOC’s impeachment call, supporting Trump’s Iran strike and warning that repeated, baseless impeachment efforts cheapen its meaning. Fetterman said the strike didn’t warrant impeachment and that such rhetoric is unproductive and harmful to serious governance.
