DA Willis Ordered To Pay Big Fine For Violations In Trump Case

Fulton County DA Fani Willis has been ordered to pay over $54,000 in legal fees for violating

Georgia’s Open Records Act after failing to provide documents requested by attorney Ashleigh Merchant, who represents Michael Roman, a co-defendant in the Trump election case.

A judge criticized Willis’ office for showing “open hostility” and a “lack of good faith” in handling the requests. This comes amid broader scrutiny of Willis, including her disqualification from the Trump case over a prior relationship with a special prosecutor. She is appealing that decision to the Georgia Supreme Court.
