Democrats Attack Fetterman For Complaining About Stall Tactics

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) expressed frustration over missing family beach time due to prolonged Senate votes on President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” despite its likely passage. “I just want to go home,” he told reporters, adding that most votes were uneventful.

Fetterman voted against the bill but drew criticism for his lack of enthusiasm. Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) rebuked Fetterman’s attitude, saying lawmakers should feel privileged to serve, especially during high-stakes votes impacting millions. Boyle emphasized his own dedication, saying his 11-year-old daughter understood the bill’s significance. The Senate was delayed by Schumer-led objections to the bill’s title, invoking the Byrd Rule to strike “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” from the legislation. Senators endured long hours over the July 4th recess weekend, reviewing the 940-page bill, with staff reading it aloud for over 16 hours. Despite tensions and delays, Trump praised Fetterman as the “most sensible” Democrat, though Fetterman ultimately opposed the legislation.
