DNI Gabbard Refers Intelligence Officials to DOJ For Alleged Leaking

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has referred two intelligence officials to the Department of Justice for allegedly leaking classified information to The Washington Post and The New York Times.

A third referral is reportedly forthcoming. Gabbard emphasized that such leaks endanger national security and must be prosecuted.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) conducted internal reviews before making the referrals, with the DOJ expected to pass cases to the FBI for formal investigation. Gabbard launched a task force—the Director’s Initiative Group—to combat politicization and unauthorized leaks in the intelligence community.

Recent reports also highlight further disciplinary actions, including the dismissal of three former Pentagon officials for similar violations. The Trump administration has pledged to hold leakers accountable and restore transparency within national security agencies.
