DOJ Charges Mexican National For Allegedly Supporting Terrorist Gang

The Justice Department has indicted Maria Del Rosario Navarro-Sanchez, a Mexican national, for providing grenades and other support to the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), now designated a foreign terrorist organization.

This marks the first case of its kind in the U.S. Charges include firearms trafficking, drug distribution, cash smuggling, and alien smuggling.

Two co-defendants, Luis Carlos Davalos-Lopez and Gustavo Castro-Medina, face related charges. CJNG is involved in fentanyl trafficking, bribery, extortion, and violent attacks using military-grade weapons. Officials emphasized their commitment to combating cartel violence and securing U.S. borders.

In a separate case, Guatemalan official Freddy Arnoldo Salazar Flores was charged with conspiring to traffic over five tons of cocaine into the U.S. through a network linked to Mexican cartels.
