An investigation is underway to uncover who is funding anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles and other cities. Crowds on Demand, a California-based protest organization, revealed it declined several “high-budget” requests to support the demonstrations due to concerns about violence and legality. The company clarified it only backs “commonsense” causes and avoids events that risk public safety.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), chair of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, and Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) are leading the probe. They’re focusing on CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights), alleging the group offered logistical and financial support to disruptive activists. Kiley further accused CHIRLA of tipping off protestors about ICE operations and questioned a potential conflict of interest with Gov. Gavin Newsom, noting CHIRLA’s $500,000 donation to his campaign and $34 million in state and federal funding.

While CHIRLA has supported anti-ICE campaigns, there is no confirmed evidence linking it to funding or condoning violent riots.
