Donald Trump could be about to lift an almost 100-year-old law and it’s left people in complete shock

Donald Trump is considering lifting a nearly 100-year-old firearms law that regulates silencers, introduced during Prohibition to combat gang violence. This move follows his earlier decision to end a 20-year ban on silencer sales to non-US citizens. The Trump administration argues that removing such restrictions benefits American manufacturers and aligns with the constitutional right to bear arms. While some gun-rights activists hope this signals an end to suppressor restrictions, critics oppose the change, with concerns about safety and crime. Currently, silencers are subject to a $200 tax and special licensing. If the law is lifted, buyers would only need a background check, simplifying the process. The White House has yet to comment.
