Trump Says Son Barron ‘Deeply Hurt’ by Charlie Kirk’s Killing
Former President Donald Trump revealed that his youngest son, Barron, was deeply affected by the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed Wednesday during a speaking event at Utah Valley University, just after answering a question about mass shootings.
The attack was captured on video by several attendees and quickly spread across social media, triggering widespread outrage and bipartisan condemnation.
The FBI launched an immediate manhunt, later releasing footage of a suspect climbing down from a rooftop and fleeing across a parking lot. A bolt-action rifle and ammunition were recovered from nearby woods, wrapped in a blanket.
By Friday, Trump announced on Fox News that a suspect had been captured. He spoke emotionally about how Kirk’s death had impacted his family.
“Barron came to me and said he wanted to meet Charlie,” Trump recalled. “I set up a lunch. He came back and said, ‘That guy’s great, Dad.’ Charlie had a magic over kids—Black, white, didn’t matter. He connected.”
Trump said Barron was “very hurt” by the news and emphasized Kirk’s rare ability to inspire young people. “Losing him left a mark,” he said.
The killing has rocked political circles and highlighted the deep personal relationships Kirk built—including with the Trump family.
Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk.
