President Donald Trump’s dream of purchasing Greenland has gained momentum with new legislation introduced in Congress. Republican Congressman Buddy Carter from Georgia proposed a bill allowing Trump to negotiate with Greenland and Denmark about acquiring the autonomous territory. This move aligns with Trump’s broader expansionist agenda, which includes renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” and plans for territorial changes like reclaiming the Panama Canal. Trump has previously suggested that Greenland, historically a part of Denmark, should be part of the U.S., even claiming that its 57,000 residents would want to join the U.S. His proposed renaming of Greenland to “Red, White, and Blueland” has drawn attention. The bill has been referred to a committee for review.
