Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania blamed former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the Democrats’ crushing defeat in the 2024 elections. In an interview with Politico, Fetterman criticized Pelosi for trying to control the party while later blaming President Biden for the loss. He argued that Pelosi had orchestrated Biden’s exit, replaced him with Kamala Harris, and then criticized Biden’s leadership. Fetterman also spoke out against Democrats who labeled Trump supporters as “fascists,” arguing that such rhetoric alienates voters. His comments come amid increasing calls for Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to step aside following the election losses. Pelosi’s controversial remarks about Biden’s decision to endorse Harris have fueled internal party divisions. Teamsters President Sean O’Brien also suggested that Pelosi and Schumer should relinquish their leadership roles to allow for new leadership in the party.
