A New York judge dismissed Tony Bobulinski’s $30 million defamation lawsuit against Fox News co-host Jessica Tarlov and ordered him to pay her legal fees. Bobulinski sued Tarlov over comments she made in January on “The Five,” claiming a Trump Super PAC had paid for his lawyers.
Tarlov later clarified that she had misspoken, stating no evidence suggested the payments were related to Bobulinski’s legal fees. Despite demanding a retraction and filing a lawsuit, Bobulinski’s claims were rejected in court.
Judge J. Paul Oetken ruled that Tarlov’s statements didn’t meet the legal standard for defamation, especially regarding professional conduct. Fox News expressed satisfaction with the ruling, marking a significant application of New York’s anti-SLAPP law.
