Former FBI Director James Comey is under fire for an Instagram post featuring seashells arranged as “86 47,” widely interpreted as a coded threat to Donald Trump, the 47th president.
Though Comey claimed it was a random photo and later deleted it, critics, including Trump, accused him of promoting violence.
House Republicans responded by introducing a resolution to bar Comey from ever serving in the federal government again. They also called for a full Justice Department investigation.
GOP leaders, including Reps. August Pfluger and Tulsi Gabbard, labeled the post a dangerous, disqualifying act. The FBI and Secret Service are reportedly reviewing the incident as a potential threat.
