Habba Warned Over Out-Of-Court Comments About Democrat After Arrest

Interim U.S. Attorney Alina Habba Warned Over Comments on Newark Mayor’s Arrest

Interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, Alina Habba, was cautioned by a magistrate judge not to make public comments about Newark Mayor Ras Baraka following his arrest for trespassing outside an ICE facility.

Baraka and three Democratic members of Congress were trying to access the site when he was arrested. U.S. Magistrate Andre Espinosa reminded officials to follow professional conduct and avoid public remarks during an active case.

Earlier, Habba posted on social media that Baraka “chose to disregard the law.” She later told Fox News that Baraka entered the facility, was repeatedly warned, and was arrested after refusing to leave. Espinosa ruled Baraka poses no flight risk or danger.

Baraka, who is also running for New Jersey governor, has denied wrongdoing.
