Jiggly Caliente, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star, dies at 44 after amputation, infection

Filipino-American drag performer and TV personality Jiggly Caliente, whose real name was Bianca Castro, died on April 27 at the age of 44 following complications from a severe infection and the amputation of most of her right leg.

Her family announced the news on Instagram, saying she passed away at 4:42 a.m. surrounded by loved ones. “Her legacy is one of love, courage, and light,” the statement read. Castro rose to fame on Season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she finished in eighth place, and later returned for All Stars Season 6. She also served as a judge on Drag Race Philippines and had a recurring role in the acclaimed series Pose. Her drag name was inspired by the Pokémon character Jigglypuff. Fans and fellow performers have expressed an outpouring of love and grief online. Castro’s passing comes just days after her family revealed she had suffered a serious health setback.
