A federal judge has ruled in favor of the Trump administration, allowing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to proceed with an audit of Treasury Department payments.
New York Attorney General Letitia James, joined by 17 other Democratic AGs, had sued to block the probe. U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas, initially supportive of the challenge, lifted restrictions after DOGE employees demonstrated compliance with required data-handling protocols.
The ruling removes the need for court approval when new team members join the investigation.
James, currently under federal investigation, had called the audit an “illegal power grab,” while the administration argued it was necessary to address wasteful spending in federal programs.
