Karoline Leavitt, former Trump White House Press Secretary, exposed controversial USAID spending on international projects, including a DEI musical in Ireland and a transgender opera in Colombia. She revealed that taxpayer dollars were used for $1.5 million in Serbia, $70,000 for the musical, and $32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru. Leavitt criticized the misallocation of funds, saying, “I don’t want my dollars going towards this crap.” Her remarks came as President Trump and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) work to eliminate waste in government. Reports indicate USAID shut down its headquarters, following Musk’s call to shut down the agency entirely, claiming it’s beyond reform. Trump echoed the sentiment, calling USAID “a criminal organization” amid growing concerns about its influence and mismanagement.
