Man Builds 3-Story Dream Home from 11 Shipping Containers
Designer Will Breaux turned his long-held dream into reality by building a unique three-story home entirely out of shipping containers. Located on McGowen Street in Houston, the 2,500-square-foot residence features 11 containers and even includes a rooftop deck. Its bold, industrial design has caught the eye of neighbors and architecture fans alike.
Breaux’s vision began in the early 2000s, but he struggled to find a designer who shared his unconventional ideas. After repeated setbacks and unsatisfying proposals, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Diving into research, Breaux studied container builds and architectural techniques, gradually teaching himself both the creative and technical aspects of container construction. By 2011, he fully committed to designing the home himself.
His determination paid off. The completed home is a striking mix of industrial edge and modern comfort, proving that alternative building materials can create warm, livable spaces.
More than just a house, Breaux’s project stands as a testament to persistence, creativity, and the courage to defy convention in pursuit of a dream.
