All 47 Democrats opposed the nomination, while the remaining Republicans, including Senators Lisa Murkowski and Bill Cassidy, supported her confirmation. Murkowski expressed her appreciation for Gabbard’s commitment to limiting the intelligence agency’s scope while ensuring national security. Gabbard, who served in Congress from 2013 to 2021 and left the Democratic Party in 2022, previously endorsed Trump’s 2024 bid. The confirmation highlights GOP support for Trump’s intelligence reform efforts. Gabbard will be sworn in at the White House today.
