After marrying in 2006, Andrea West and her husband were eager to start a family. Their joy turned to heartbreak when Andrea miscarried at 11 weeks. Blaming herself, she struggled with grief, unaware that one in four women experience pregnancy loss.
With her husband’s support, Andrea tried again—following every guideline perfectly. When she learned she was expecting a boy, she was thrilled to become a “boy mom.”
Her son Adam was born on September 21, but doctors quickly took over after noticing an issue with his leg. He was bruised and marked. The diagnosis: Cutis Marmorata Telangiectatica Congenita (CMTC), a rare vascular condition with only 500 known cases worldwide.
Despite this, Adam passed initial brain and heart tests and was soon discharged. He saw specialists, but most results came back normal. Andrea and her husband attended conferences and shared Adam’s story to raise awareness.
Today, Adam is thriving—playing sports, making friends, and keeping up with peers. He is Andrea’s rainbow baby and a symbol of resilience, love, and hope.
